Let us show you the beauty of Genoa. Ask for a city map and we will be happy to help you to plan the day.
Buy the integrated bus-train ticket at the Camping reception. If your first vehicle is the train, remember to stamp the ticket in the ticket machines at the station.
We suggest that you already organize yourself at home for the schedules so you don't waste time on vacation (Trenitalia site, regional train Genoa Pegli - Genoa Piazza Principe). We are always available to help you.
From the campsite the train station is about 600 meters (not even 10 minutes downhill).
Route: exiting the campsite and arriving on the main road (via Vespucci) you will find a little street on the left (a creuza, a typical Genoese lane).
Going down you can see the small lake of Galeazzo Alessi (mid-sixteenth century).
Continuing straight ahead you will see on your right a lookout tower from 1591 and immediately afterwards you will come out of the main entrance of Villa Doria (the Villa also houses the Naval Museum which for years has been connected with the Galata Museo del Mare near the Aquarium ).Cross Piazza Bonavino and, after Via Pavia, you will find Pegli station on the left. Trains to the center pass on track 2 which is on the other side of the walkway above the tracks.
Remember to stamp the ticket before boarding the train. Normally in 20 minutes you should arrive at Principe (usually the fourth stop from Pegli) and from there in 2 steps go to the historic center and to the Aquarium.
If for some reason there was not the right train, from Pegli station it is enough to get off another 100 meters on the Lungomare and take the bus no. 1 which ends in front of the Aquarium.
We suggest the train if possible because the bus makes many stops and, with the traffic that is usually there ... it takes a lifetime to arrive and is more crowded than the train.
However, if you spend the evening in the center, the last bus of 01.00 may be useful ....
For the return (uphill ...) it can be convenient, with the usual ticket, to use the 93 bus that from Via Pavia (above the station) reaches 100 meters from the campsite. The last of the day leaves at 8.20 pm after which the legs are on the shoulder, remembering that the shortcut of the park is closed and you have to do all of Via Vespucci uphill (or take a taxi).
When the weather conditions allow it, another beautiful option to reach the center of Genoa is the NAVEBUS (a motor ship) which, starting from Molo Archetti (on the Pegli seafront), in about 40 minutes, arrives at the Old Port, a few meters from the Aquarium and from the Galata Sea Museum. Tickets for the Navebus can be purchased directly on board.
