A beautiful trip that we recommend to do includes a visit to the spectacular caves of Toirano, about 45 minutes away from the CAMPEGGIO VILLA DORIA towards Ventimiglia. Located a few kilometers from the homonymous village, behind Borghetto Santo Spirito, this cave system is made up of many cavities, two of which, the Bàsura Cave and the Santa Lucia Cave, are now open to visitors.
The caves are undoubtedly characterized by their beauty, the wealth of stalactites and stalagmites, but also for the high archaeological value of the finds found inside the Bàsura Cave. Inside, in fact, the remains of the so-called cavern bear and remains of men of the upper Palolithic were found. The path winds through beautiful rooms, such as the Corridor of the footprints, with signs of human presence left 12,000 years ago, the Sala del Laghetto , the Cemetery of the Bears and the Hall of the Mysteries, in which there is the greatest concentration of human traces.
A few kilometers from Toirano you can alternatively visit the equally beautiful, but less known, caves of Borgio Verezzi. Through a path of 800 meters, you will be amazed by the magnificent diversity of colors due to the presence of various minerals.
Thanks to a day trip you can visit the magnificent caves that characterize this part of Liguria, joining them with a visit to the magnificent medieval villages of Noli, Verezzi or Finalborgo or the city of Albenga, or with go swimming in one of the most beautiful beaches of the area, the stunning Baia dei Saraceni.
